Our Mission

Lake Shore Family Center perfectly combines learning and play. Children learn so much about the world, themselves and how to treat others. LSFC is an early learning facility that offers multiple programs, including childcare for ages 6-weeks through 12 years. The center offers before and after-school programming, Early Head Start, Preschool, UPK, School-age camp, and Infant/Toddler care. In addition, our social adult day care program offers a place for older adults in need of assistance. We strive to provide care for all of those in need of our services.


 
 

History

The facility opened in 1990 as Lake Shore Child Care Center with a vision and mission to offer families childcare services in a developmentally appropriate and engaging setting. In 1993, this vision was broadened to include Adult Day Care services, thus making LSFC the only intergenerational Day Care Center in Chautauqua County. Changing the name of the facility to Lake Shore Family Center, services were expanded to better serve families in an immersive and family-like setting. The innovative Intergenerational program has been awarded the Paul Vanas Intergenerational award for excellence in Programming. In December of 2019, LSFC was named a “Program of Distinction” by Generations United. This National honor was awarded to only six programs in the entire nation. Lake Shore Family Center was also awarded “Visionary in Education 2020” by the Dunkirk Observer.

LSFC prides itself in its best-practice approach. It truly reflects the motto:
